Where We Row

A Variety of Unique Experiences

RowCroatia™ operates across six distinct Croatian venues, each offering a different rowing environment, cultural character, and guest experience. Two anchor venues — Lake Jarun in Zagreb and the Split harbor — provide the operational backbone. Four portfolio venues extend the offering across the full breadth of Croatia's extraordinary coastline and interior.

Zagreb

The Olympic Standard

Lake Jarun is Croatia's premier competitive rowing venue — a 2km World Cup regatta course on a protected urban lake. HAVK Mladost (Croatian Academic Rowing Club Mladost) is the home club of Martin and Valent Sinković, the most decorated rowing pair in Olympic history. Training here means sharing the same water, the same boathouse, and the same coaching culture that produced three Olympic gold medals.

Venue Highlights

  • World Cup 2km regatta course
  • Protected lake with calm, clear water
  • 20 minutes from Zagreb international airport
  • Vibrant capital city culture and dining

Split

The Historic Soul

Founded in 1914, HVK Gusar is one of Croatia's most storied rowing clubs, set directly on the Split harbor beneath the walls of Diocletian's Palace — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The water conditions are exceptional: calm protected bays for technique work and open Adriatic channels for endurance sessions. Split's vibrant old town, extraordinary cuisine, and gateway position to the Dalmatian islands make it the ideal coastal anchor for any RowCroatia™ itinerary.

Venue Highlights

  • UNESCO World Heritage waterfront setting
  • Calm harbor and open Adriatic access
  • Gateway to the Dalmatian islands

Central Dalmatia

Šibenik / Skradin

The River Kingdom

Row the Krka River through one of Croatia's most extraordinary natural corridors — a protected canyon of limestone cliffs, dense forest, and glassy water that opens, without warning, into the medieval harbour of Šibenik. The oldest city in Croatia, built entirely by its own citizens, Šibenik's cathedral has stood above this water since the fifteenth century. Skradin, at the river's edge, is where the boats go in and the world slows down.

Venue Highlights

  • Row through the Krka canyon into a UNESCO-listed medieval harbour
  • Glassy, protected river water with no open-sea exposure
  • Šibenik Cathedral — the only Renaissance cathedral built entirely in stone
  • Skradin village: boutique waterfront accommodation steps from the boathouse
  • Gateway to Krka National Park and its cascading waterfalls

Istria

Lim Bay

The Natural Wonder

Lim Bay (Limski Kanal) is a protected 12km fjord-like channel cut into the Istrian peninsula — steep forested limestone cliffs on both sides, glassy emerald water below, and no open-sea exposure. It is arguably the most visually dramatic rowing environment in Europe. Guests stay in Rovinj, one of the Adriatic's most celebrated towns: a Venetian-era old town on a small peninsula, a harbour full of fishing boats, and a restaurant scene that draws visitors from across the continent. The water is fifteen minutes away. The town is where the day ends.

Venue Highlights

  • 12km protected fjord-like channel — perfectly calm water
  • Steep limestone cliffs and dense forest on both banks
  • Based in Rovinj — Istria's most celebrated coastal town
  • Venetian old town, harbour dining, and world-class Istrian cuisine
  • Easily combined with Zagreb for a two-venue itinerary
